Porsche 911 S/T: the purest 911?

This year Porsche is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its legend. Indeed, the manufacturer from Zuffenhausen has had the mythical 911 in its catalog since 1963. An important anniversary which was already successfully celebrated at the beginning of the year with the magnificent exhibition of the Mathieu chandelier in the Vaucluse but also with desirable models such as 911 Sport Classic or the 911 GT3 RS. However, Porsche does not stop there and has just presented the new Porsche 911 S/T, a limited series aimed at model purists!

Little difference exclusively when looking at it from the outside because when looking at its technical sheet, we quickly notice a significant change. Indeed the 911 S/T does not have the 510 horsepower engine of the GT3 but that of the GT3 RS with the power of 525 horsepower associated necessarily with the very interesting 7-speed manual gearbox. A purist car that allows him to do 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach 300 km/h at top speed. It is therefore faster than the 992 GT3 RS which peaks before this speed due to a delirious support.

The other interesting point of this 911 S/T is that it becomes the lightest of the Porsche 911 currently in the catalog since it is equipped with many elements in light plastic reinforced with carbon fibers present on the 911 GT3 RS such as the roof , the doors or even the bonnet. We also distinguish the presence of magnesium rims while the windows have a lightened glass and the rear steering wheels are removed.

Porsche has accustomed us to very specific and reused denominations like Carrera, RS, GTS or Targa but S/T is not very common. Indeed, it is reused in tribute to a racing 911 produced in only 24 copies. For this thought, the German manufacturer has seen the big picture offering performances and hallucinating sensations.

If you want a 911 GT3 RS and its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat 6 engine producing 525 horsepower, you had no other choice than the very impressive body kit with a gigantic spoiler and the PDK automatic gearbox. Uncompromising performance and efficiency but you have to assume this style.

With this new Porsche 911 S / T, it is a much more discreet version that the firm offers since it is only equipped with the fins and all the aero package of its cousin GT3 RS. This 911 S/T is closer to the 911 GT3 Touring, some will also regret the lack of distinctive elements between the two versions.
