Mercedes-AMG GLC: at the cutting edge of performance?

Mercedes-AMG presents its vision of the Mercedes GLC, resulting in an overpowered SUV using modern technologies to respond to the absence of a V8 engine under its hood. A downsizing that does not lead to a drop in power for the model, on the contrary. Everything you need to know about this novelty with Abcacteur.

A sulphurous style

The Mercedes-AMG GLC is recognizable by its generously sporty style. Indeed, many specific elements are brought to it, we notice in particular the grille with the vertical pattern and the AMG logo which makes it possible to identify the AMG version at first glance. It also gets specific light alloy rims. The air intakes and other aerodynamic elements are specific and help to accentuate the sporty style. With all this treatment, the Mercedes-AMG GLC is a sulfurous style SUV that will obviously turn heads in its path.

Mercedes' MBUX infotainment system gets special displays in the center display, instrument display and head-up display in these AMG versions. In particular, it integrates the AMG TRACK PACE on the GLC 63 S, which includes the data recorder for use on the circuit.

Several powers

The Mercedes-AMG GLC offers several power levels. Starting with the GLC 43 which uses the 2.0 liter turbo engine from AMG M139 with a power of 421 horsepower and a torque of 500 Nm. This mechanism can be assisted depending on the situation by an alternator-starter offering boost power of 14 horsepower and 150 Nm. To curb this power, there are ventilated and perforated brake discs at the front of 370 by 36 millimeters with fixed 4-piston calipers and 360 by 26 millimeters with calipers 1 piston rear.

This mechanism equipped with 4-wheel drive and a 9-speed automatic gearbox can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds while the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h.

The GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE still uses the M139 engine but its power increases to 476 horsepower. An interesting contribution but that's not all since this plug-in hybrid version benefits from the addition of power from a high-performance electric motor. Indeed this 204 hp electric motor is placed on the rear axle, it is integrated in a compact Electric Drive Unit (EDU) with an electrically controlled two-speed gearbox and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. . Its 6.1 kWh electric battery is also placed on the rear axle. A small battery which allows it only 12 km of autonomy in electric, here the search for performance is put forward more than that of economy.

The cumulative power of this boosted 63 S E PERFORMANCE version of the Mercedes-AMG GLC reaches 680 horsepower and 1,020 Nm of torque. Impressive figures that outclass those of supercars as the 0 to 100 km/h is dispatched in 3.5 seconds and the maximum speed is limited to 275 km/h.
